Abstract
3D Printed Orthodontic Aligners: A Data-Driven Clinical Perspective
Direct-print aligners represent a paradigm shift in clear aligner therapy. Characterized by advanced mechanical properties such as shape memory, this technology utilizes a fully digital workflow to enable efficient in-office production. This session will examine various aspects of direct-print aligners: the mechanical properties to gain a thorough understanding of how the direct-print material works, and the benefits of treatment customization through the individual and geometric characterization of the aligners; the production process, describing the steps necessary to achieve effective in-office production, including the design phase, aligner design, printing, and the post-printing processes required to produce a clear and functional aligner; the clinical indications for direct-print aligners, showcasing treated cases and providing information on the accuracy of movement that can be achieved with this innovative approach. This will provide dentists with the evidence-based knowledge necessary to implement these aligners effectively and predictably.
